All mandatory signs for fire check doors needs to be white writing on a circular blue background to be in accordance with BS5499-1:2002. (This is not to be confused with fire escape doors and the associated green man running signs.) Approved wording is “Fire Door Keep Shut”, “Fire Door Keep Locked” and “Automatic Fire Door Keep Clear”. Male, female, unisex & disabled toilet signs, as well as shower room and baby-change room signage are not governed by British Standards, but can still be found here.
