What sized door will a Standard Exidor product fit?
November 2, 2010 by Editor
A standard Exidor 200 / 300 series unit will suit doors 1220mm wide and 2440mm high. The Exidor 400 Series Touch Bars are available in two standard sizes; up to 900mm and 1200mm wide and 2440mm high. The small unit measures 650mm and will operate within a 692mm door opening. The larger unit measures 830mm and will operate with 872mm door opening. All ranges have been tested on for doors up to 2500mm high and 1300mm wide. In this case extra long shoot bolts and cross bar would be required. 0 comments
Q: Are Exidor products Fire Rated?
November 9, 2010 by Editor
The Exidor 200 / 300 series range of Bolts and Latches have been fire rated for use on timber and steel doors. The 400 series Touch Bars in single, two and three point units have also been tested for use on Timber and Steel Fire Doors. 0 comments
What Fire Door rating must the door be for which I can use the Exidor Range?
November 9, 2010 by Editor
The Exidor range has successfully passed a fire test, which will allow the panic hardware to be used on any fire door that has been tested. It is the door which will carry the certification, as it is the door which will prevent a fire from escaping an area of a building. The Exit Hardware will only keep the door closed for the duration at the start of the fire, until the door gaps are sealed. Once the opening is sealed the hardware on the door may fall off as the fire continues to burn. 0 comments
I have a personal access door on my steel garage, outward opening. Door size 950mm. I live on Skye and it is very windy. I need a door closer that would be strong enough to prevent the wind catching the door and damaging the hinges. Please advise, many thanks.

The best door closer to use for this scenario would be the Geze TS4000, fitted on the PUSH side of the door in the figure 61 position (body on the transom with the arm on the door, see picture below). If you have a concern about weatherproofing, we would suggest using a marine grease on the spindle and consider upgrading to the TS4000 W, which has a "wetroom" lacquer anti-corrosion finish.

I am looking for a sliding folding concertina door sytem to fold 8 x narrow doors , 4 each way. Doors are 2200 mm x 235 mm x 35 mm in size and weigh approx. 20 kg each. I will need a system which has both top and bottom tracks - 2100 mm in length.
November 15, 2010 by Editor
The suitable gear for the sliding folding arrangement you describe for your doors would be the Coburn Foldaside 100, (see components listed on our web page at the link shown) a set to do all 8 doors on a 2.1m top & bottom track will have to be bought in component form, with two 4 door kits on one track set.

How do I stop the door closer slamming the door?
November 17, 2010 by Editor
Q: (from Costa) I have a door fitted with a Geze TS4000E door closer and I dont know how to perform the final slam adjustment. The door is shutting perfectly until the last 10 degrees or so when it just lets go and slams LOUD! I have turned down the closing force and increased the resistance but as soon as it gets to that crucial 10 degree point it just lets go. PLEASE HELP!
A: The latching adjustment (last 10° of the close) for a Geze TS4000E is set by changing the position of the arm, refer to the fitting instructions, or this quick sketch summarising the information may help:-

We have an Exidor 500 series panic hardware with a red oval door bar we need replacing as the bar lever that attaches to the lock has snapped, is this spare part available?
November 18, 2010 by Editor
If the lever of the locking unit has broken, then the whole thing can be replaced for the price of the locking unit component. (If it's the slave unit, then contact us and we can quote you for a replacement part.) The prices for coloured Exidor products (e.g. ruby red) are on each product page. It is possible that the one you're after is the 501-B single point push bar. 0 comments
I'm looking for wardrobe sliding door gear with a length of 2900mm to take three doors (MDF) running on two tracks. One door at rear with two at front. Any ideas please?
November 20, 2010 by Editor
As long as your individual doors are less than 25kg each in weight, then you can choose between the Coburn Jason bottom running wardrobe gear (you'd need to order 2 kits to get the length) or the Coburn Twin 60 top hung wardrobe gear (again the longest kit is 2.4m, so you'd need 2 kits again). Please note that joining kits together is not really recommended as there are no jointing kit available on these systems, and it would be up to the fitter's skill to get a good smooth join. 0 comments
I'm currently detailing a sliding door using the Projeto 150 system and was wondering if you have the dimensions of the floor mounted guide for the timber door as it seems to be the only element not dimensioned on the pdf?
November 21, 2010 by Editor
The door stops for the Projeto 150 are on the track itself, not the floor, and included in the kit. The dimensions of the floor guides are 19.8mm width x 51mm length x 17mm tall. You mortice a groove in the bottom of the door so it runs along the floor guide. They are 304 stainless steel. 0 comments
Recommend a wardrobe sliding door kit for my doors?
November 22, 2010 by Editor
Q: (from Dennis) I have two doors measuring 6 foot x 21 inches 3/4 inch thick which I want to slide past each other like a in wardrobe on double tracks top and bottom. They are 15kgs each and 16mm thick. Would your kit be suitable?
A: Yes, the Coburn Jason 4J can take doors up to 25kg each and the minimum door thickness is 12mm. The bottom tracks can be surface mounted (or recessed) and the wheels are surface mounted to the back face of the doors. The top tracks can be morticed in or surface mounted (see the technical pdf at this link). 0 comments
Can the cylinder in an OAD be interchanged?
November 23, 2010 by Editor
The Exidor range includes Outside Access Devices (OAD’s) with interchangeable and non-interchangeable cylinders. All the Exidor OAD units, except for the 298 and 409 units, have interchangeable cylinders. The cylinders in the 302 OAD have to be drilled and tapped from the back, but the 322, 400, 500 and 700 series OAD uses the conventional fixing position. 0 comments
Help! Our door closer slams the door
November 24, 2010 by Editor
...My freeholder has just fitted a door closer at my request as the main door slams when people close it. However, the one they have fitted has not remedied the problem as the door needs to be closed very gently to eliminate the slam (and rattle of glass in the door). Do you have a door closer which can move extremely slowly but also push a door closed??
If it is a hydraulic door closer they've fitted, it should have some adjustability on the closing speed. Basically you want to slow down the speed and reduce, or turn off, the latching action. Most door closers should offer this adjustability. Our Geze TS4000 video shows the adjustment of this high use, heavy duty, fully adjustable door closer, which might give your fitter some assistance. Any of the Geze door closers from TS1500 up (depending upon the width of your door) should give you a good result. 0 comments
Is there panic hardware for INWARD opening doors?
November 26, 2010 by Editor
Q: (from John) We have a fire exit door that opens inward and we require to fit a lock that can only work from inside the building, do they make such a thing?
A: The Exidor 500 series works on pull-to-open fire escape doors (as well as the more usual push-to-open). This is because the handle opens the lock when you pull it upwards as well as when you push it down. 501-B or 502A-B for public access areas, 501-P or 502A-P for workplace areas. 0 comments
Do you supply a 24V door hold open/closer for connection to a fire alarm that can be left open in various positions?
November 29, 2010 by Editor
Yes, we do supply a door closer which can allow a fire door to be left ajar, or open at any angle, while connected to the fire alarm system - it is called a Geze TS4000 EFS, and you can read all about it, including the prices, at the link.
