Guide rail door closer fixing in Figures 1, 61 & 66

Fixing a guide rail door closer in figure 1 application

Figure 1 fixing - PULL Side (or Hinge side of door)

This is the most common method of fixing a door closer. The door closer is fixed to the hinge side of the door (the side on which you can see the knuckle of the hinges when the door is closed). The door closer is attached to the door and the arm is attached to the frame above.

Note: The standard "hinge side" door closer and arm are required.

With this fixing method the door closer is attached to the frame with the arm attached to the door. For this fixing method the door closer is fitted to the opposite hinge side (the side the hinge knuckles cannot be seen when the door is closed). Normally used for outward opening external doors where the door closer needs to be inside the building to protect it from vandalism and the weather.

Note: The standard "hinge side" door closer and arm are required.

This fixing method is also known as parallel arm fixing and uses the parallel arm bracket that comes comes with all our standard arm overhead door closers (except the Geze TS1000). The door closer is fitted to the opposite hinge side (the side the hinge knuckles cannot be seen when the door is closed). The door closer is attached to the door and the parallel arm bracket is fitted underneath the door frame head. The arm is then attached to the parallel arm bracket.

Note: For this fitting an "opposite hinge side" door closer and arm is required.  It may also be necessary to use an L shaped mounting or soffit bracket if the door reveal is more that 40mm deep.
