We took this photo for an article the Plymouth Herald are writing about Trading Standards’ Buy With Confidence scheme, of which we have been a proud member for 8+ years. Accreditation for the scheme involves being audited by Trading Standards for business practices and customer satisfaction – they even contact a random sample of our customers to make sure we’re the “good eggs” we try to be.

BBC Spotlight News about our move to Teignmouth

May 26, 2015 by · Comments Off on BBC Spotlight News about our move to Teignmouth

BBC SpotlightWe were due to move in 2 weeks from now, and due to phones and internet still not being installed, we have been unable to proceed. Needless to say we’re not sitting on our laurels, and have enlisted the help of the Anne Marie Morris MP, Teignmouth Post (front page), BBC Radio Devon and now BBC Spotlight TV to add pressure and try to speed things up.  This is what Spotlight wrote: “Businesses which have moved into a new two and a half million pound industrial park in Teignmouth are still without telephones and internet, two months after it opened. BT says it’s a complex job which they hope to complete by next month but the firms there say it’s damaging their businesses and some are finding it impossible to trade.”

Apprenticeship Vacancy – Warehouse Operative Level 2 leading to Diploma level training in Architectural Ironmongery

March 26, 2015 by · Comments Off on Apprenticeship Vacancy – Warehouse Operative Level 2 leading to Diploma level training in Architectural Ironmongery

An opportunity exists for a young person to join our growing company for a 1 year apprenticeship in Warehousing. The successful candidate will be then put through a 3 year training scheme in Architectural Ironmongery leading to a Diploma Qualification. This is a great chance to learn a job from the “bottom up”, so we are looking for a candidate with real ambition combined with good basic skills and the desire to work hard and succeed in many roles. Initially working in the warehouse on order picking, packing, stock control, receiving goods while training one day a week at South Devon College, the apprentice will be expected to gain on the job product & system knowledge towards staffing the trade counter, then dealing with customers on the telephone and via the website. Once all training is completed, the qualified Architectural Ironmonger will be required to represent the company with architects, contractors and end users such as schools and hospitals, so a polite and smart demeanour combined with keen intelligence and attention to detail is vital. Currently we are located in Newton Abbot, but are moving to larger premises at Broadmeadow Industrial Estate in Teignmouth next quarter.

There is a large industry in the UK devoted to Architectural Ironmongery – no building project can be completed without door locks, latches, hinges, handles etc. There are many British Standards (regulations) applied to the industry, as well as technical expertise and specialist knowledge and experience of these can result in an unusual and highly desirable occupation.

Apply to Helen Butland, Doorstuff Ltd, 7 Venture Court, Bradley Lane, Newton Abbot, TQ12 1NB
Closing date: 8th April 2015
